Describe the charging you expect at home
Share your expected weekly driving and whether some charging happens at work or elsewhere. If you already have the vehicle, available charging records can be more useful than a broad vehicle category.
Tell us about a second vehicle you may add and any other planned electrical loads. Keep future plans labeled as estimates so the proposal can distinguish measured usage from anticipated demand.
Use a simple energy example carefully
For illustration, 30 miles of driving per day at an assumed 0.30 kWh per mile is 9 kWh per day of vehicle energy. Charging losses and the actual vehicle and driving conditions would need to be considered separately. This is not a prediction for your car.
That energy figure still does not tell you the number of panels. A solar proposal must estimate generation for the actual roof or site and combine the EV goal with the home’s other electricity use.
Keep three different scopes clear
This page concerns Sun Ray’s solar and battery planning. It does not advertise charger installation as an automatically included service. Charging availability during an outage must be explicitly addressed in the backup design.
| Goal | What needs review |
|---|---|
| More solar generation | New array or expansion scope and generation assumptions. |
| Charging equipment | The charger, electrical capacity, and installation by the responsible qualified provider. |
| Charging during an outage | Whether the proposed backup configuration includes EV charging and under what limits. |
Request a new-system or expansion review
If you already have solar, send the existing equipment details and a year of usage and production records if available. If this is a new system, send the roof information and household usage records. Explain whether the EV is already part of those numbers.
Sun Ray can review the solar scope around your stated goals. Ask the proposal to separate current usage, estimated EV use, and optional battery work so you understand what each part is intended to accomplish.
