A mounting system contains different parts

Panels, rails, roof attachments, fasteners, flashing components, and bonding components serve different purposes. A statement that the mounts will be reused may leave important details unresolved.

Ask for the proposed material approach in plain language. The quote should distinguish the components to be retained from replacements and explain how any missing, damaged, or unsuitable items discovered during removal will be handled.

Match the material decision to the new roof

Tell the solar contractor about the new roofing product, changes in roof structure, and any proposed layout change. A component that was used on the old roof is not automatically suitable for the new arrangement.

The contractor should review the equipment manufacturer’s instructions and the project requirements. Do not select replacement fasteners, sealants, or attachment parts from a generic online checklist; this guide does not specify an installation method.

Compare quotes by material scope

A lower per-panel price may describe a different material scope. Compare the proposed work before comparing totals, and keep approved changes with the final completion record.

Give the contractor an accurate starting point

Send the panel count, roof material, known mounting brand, and any existing records. Ground-level photos or photos taken by your roofer may help; you do not need to inspect under the array yourself.

Our removal-and-reinstall planning rate is $160–$220 per panel. The written quote sets the included materials and separately approved work. Ask about the limited workmanship agreement and keep roof-contractor and solar-contractor responsibilities clear.
