Establish who owns the equipment

Find the original purchase, lease, or power purchase agreement and any later transfer documents. A monthly solar payment does not by itself tell a new contractor who owns the equipment or who can authorize alterations.

If the account has changed hands, ask the current provider to confirm the correct service contact. Avoid treating an old installer’s sales number as the only place to resolve ownership or authorization questions.

Ask the provider specific questions

Keep the answers in writing. Sun Ray can review the requested scope once the relevant conditions are clear; we do not assume that a homeowner request overrides another party’s equipment rights.

  • Who must authorize panel removal for the proposed roof work?
  • Does the agreement require a particular service provider or process?
  • What documents must the outside solar contractor provide?
  • Are there restrictions on roof materials, equipment changes, or layout changes?
  • How are costs, scheduling, and account responsibilities handled during the gap?

Keep provider rules separate from the contractor quote

Your provider’s approval does not define every item in Sun Ray’s work scope. The solar proposal still needs to address removal, storage, replacement materials, reinstallation, checks, and scheduling with the roofer.

Likewise, a contractor quote does not amend your financing or service agreement. Resolve contract questions with the provider, and obtain qualified advice if a dispute remains. This page helps organize the project, rather than interpret an individual agreement.

Send a useful project brief

Share the address, panel count if known, roof date, provider’s service instructions, and the roofer’s contact. Tell us whether a roof-material or layout change is proposed and whether the system currently has any faults.

For combined removal and reinstallation, our published planning rate is $160–$220 per panel. The final quote depends on the agreed project; it does not determine what your provider or insurer pays. Do not put account passwords or financial account numbers into the request form.
