Tell us what should remain after removal

A request to take the panels off does not establish what happens to rails, roof attachments, wiring, inverter equipment, or monitoring. Mark the equipment you want included and explain who is handling the next stage of the project. If the plan is still undecided, say so before approving work.

For a permanent removal, ask for a review of the full decommissioning scope. A panel-only quote should not be treated as approval to leave an electrical system or roof in an unspecified condition.

Agree on the roof and equipment handoff

Do not assume off-site storage, hauling, recycling, or roof replacement is included. These responsibilities belong in the written proposal, especially when different contractors are involved.

DecisionWhat to confirm
Roof conditionWho addresses the affected mounting locations and who performs the roofing work.
Equipment custodyWhere panels and components go, who receives them, and whether transport is included.
Future reinstallWhether Sun Ray or another contractor is expected to return, and under a separate agreement.
Disposal requestWhether removal from the property or an accepted recycling destination is part of the quote.

Removal-only pricing is a custom quote

Our published $160–$220 per-panel range covers removal and reinstallation. It is not a removal-only rate, and cutting that range in half would not establish an accurate price. We review the equipment, access, intended end condition, and handoff before quoting this work.

Send the full address, approximate panel count, roof stories, reason for removal, and desired date. Include photos taken from the ground and any existing system faults. There is no travel fee within our service coverage.

Records to gather before booking

We confirm scope and availability before a booking is made. Keep your removal agreement with the equipment records so a future installer knows what was done and what remains unresolved.

  • The equipment owner’s name and any service authorization needed.
  • Which components should be removed and which should remain.
  • The roofer or receiving contractor’s contact, if applicable.
  • A proposed storage location or a request to discuss transport.
  • The date by which the roof must be accessible.
