Describe the outage you are planning for
Write down the priority appliances, the period you want to consider, and what you could leave off. Tell each provider the same scenario so their proposals can be compared meaningfully.
If you already own a generator, include its model and how it connects to the property. An existing backup system is part of the site review, even if you are only asking for a new battery quote.
Compare the practical questions
| Question | Battery discussion | Generator discussion |
|---|---|---|
| Energy source | What charging sources are supported and how much energy is available? | What fuel arrangement and operating conditions are required? |
| Backup loads | What power and stored-energy limits apply? | What loads and starting demands can the selected unit support? |
| Longer outage | What happens when stored energy runs low? | What fuel and maintenance arrangements are needed? |
| Site fit | Where can the selected battery system be installed? | What location and installation requirements apply? |
| Total scope | What controls, electrical work, and handover are included? | What equipment, connection work, and service responsibilities are included? |
Do not assume the two systems can simply be combined
If your goal is to use both, request a design review of the complete arrangement. The products, controls, and electrical configuration need to support the intended operation. A general comparison page is not a wiring or connection guide.
Ask which contractor is responsible for each portion and for confirming how the combined system operates. Do not use a battery proposal as authorization to alter generator or transfer equipment outside the agreed scope.
Request the option Sun Ray can review
Sun Ray’s service focus here is battery installation and solar integration. Send your backup goals, existing solar information, and generator details if present. A generator purchase or installation is not included unless expressly confirmed in a separate scope.
For the battery option, ask for the exact equipment, covered loads, operating assumptions, and installed price. This makes it easier to compare with a separate generator provider’s proposal without treating either option as universally best.
