A completed roof and a completed solar job are different
When the panels are reinstalled, ask for a clear explanation of the agreed work completed, the system checks performed, and any items still open. This checklist helps you organize the handoff; it is not a homeowner electrical inspection.
Keep the solar quote, approved changes, roofing records, and completion information together. If you have a specific concern, describe it to the contractor instead of trying to inspect wiring or roof attachments yourself.
1. Confirm the agreed scope and equipment changes
Ask whether all quoted roof sections and panels are complete. Record any replaced equipment, revised layout, extra repairs, or outstanding parts. Compare the final explanation with the approved scope.
If something changed, ask how it affects service records, monitoring, or warranty documents. Do not assume a new component is covered by the original equipment warranty.
2. Ask what system checks were performed
Request an explanation of the checks included in the job and whether conditions allowed the agreed verification. Record any test or follow-up that still needs to occur. A roof photo documents appearance; it does not alone establish electrical performance.
For a system that worked properly before removal, Sun Ray Solutions verifies operation after reinstallation and corrects problems caused by our workmanship. That commitment does not turn pre-existing equipment faults into covered removal-and-reinstallation work.
3. Understand the monitoring status
Confirm whether monitoring is connected, what the latest update time means, and whom to contact if the app does not update. Use your own account access; do not share passwords through a quote form.
Keep a dated screenshot as a record. A momentary output reading is not a promise of future energy yield or bill savings. If something appears wrong, report the exact message, timestamp, and affected portion of the system. Next steps if solar is not working after roof replacement
4. Keep roof, solar, and warranty responsibilities clear
Save the roofer’s contact for roof-work questions and the solar contractor’s contact for reinstallation and system checks. If a concern involves both, provide both contractors the same timeline and safe photos.
Your Sun Ray Solutions agreement specifies limited workmanship coverage, including roof leaks directly caused by the mounting points and penetrations we install or reseal. Keep its duration, exclusions, and claim instructions with the job record. Read the coverage summary
5. Write down remaining items before closing the file
- What remains incomplete, if anything?
- Who is responsible for the next action?
- What date or condition triggers the follow-up?
- Are any applicable permit or inspection records still pending?
- Who should you contact if the original concern returns?
Do not climb the roof, open electrical enclosures, or disconnect solar equipment to complete this checklist. Ask the responsible contractor to investigate concerns. For smoke, sparking, or an immediate hazard, keep away and contact emergency services or the utility as appropriate.
