Use this before calling a solar service provider
This checklist helps a homeowner, roofer, or real-estate professional describe a solar concern without trying to diagnose it. Fill in what you know and leave the rest blank. No login or contact details are required to read or print it.

1. Identify the property and equipment
- Property city / ZIP and service address:
- Homeowner’s preferred contact:
- Inverter brand and model, if known:
- Battery brand/model and panel count, if known:
- Original installer and approximate installation date:
Use existing paperwork or an accessible exterior label. Do not climb, open equipment, or reach behind panels to fill a blank.
2. Describe what changed
- The issue or work requested:
- When first noticed / last known normal operation:
- Exact alert or code, if present:
- Monitoring app and last update date/time:
- All panels affected, part of the array, or unknown:
Keep a dated screenshot with the record. Describe what you observed rather than writing an assumed cause. “The app last updated Tuesday” is more useful than “the inverter is dead.”
3. Add the event and service history
- Recent roof work, outage, storm, router change, or repair:
- Relevant contractor and completion dates:
- Existing support case or replacement-part reference:
- Available plans, equipment list, agreements, or invoices:
- Access limitations or a target date:
Keep private account passwords and payment details out of shared notes. Send personal records directly to the provider who needs them.
4. Ask these questions before approving work
- What does the initial visit cover and cost?
- How is the visit fee applied if repairs are approved or declined?
- What extra investigation, parts, or labor need separate approval?
- Who checks any equipment warranty eligibility?
- What findings, checks, and open items will be explained afterward?
For Sun Ray Solutions, the initial visit and assessment deposit is $200, nonrefundable, and credited toward approved repairs. Additional work is quoted for approval. There is no travel fee within our confirmed service area.
5. Keep the next step with the record
- Agreed next action and responsible person:
- Confirmed date or condition for follow-up:
- Remaining questions or records needed:
This is a planning record, not an electrical inspection or a warranty decision. Roofers coordinating a removal and reset can also use our reinstallation completion checklist .
