Have the roof concern defined first
Describe the location and history of the concern, including when it appears and any previous work. Share safe photos, the roofer’s assessment, and the affected roof section. A stain indoors or water near a panel is useful information, but it does not by itself establish where a leak begins or who is responsible.
Sun Ray’s removal scope provides access for the agreed work. Roof diagnosis and roof repairs should have their own responsible contractor and written scope.
Match the removal boundary to the repair
A small repair may still need working room beyond the visible area. Ask the roofer to mark the needed access and explain whether additional decking, underlayment, or flashing could need attention once the area is exposed.
If more roof work becomes necessary, pause scheduling assumptions and update the solar scope. The right answer may be a limited removal, an entire roof-face removal, or another arrangement based on the actual conditions.
Agree on responsibilities during the gap
| Stage | Question to resolve |
|---|---|
| Before removal | Who identifies the work boundary and confirms the appointment? |
| Roof exposed | Who handles temporary weather protection and the roofing repair? |
| Scope changes | Who approves additional work and tells the solar contractor? |
| Ready to return | Who confirms the roof and project are ready for reinstallation? |
| Completion | What roofing records and solar checks will be provided? |
Request the right quote
Send the roofer’s findings, address, approximate panel count, and desired repair date. Explain whether you need removal and return together or only access now. Partial projects are quoted for their actual scope; the published full-array removal-and-reinstall range is a planning reference, not a fixed partial-repair price.
If the solar system also has an operating problem, mention it separately. A repair to the roof does not automatically resolve an inverter alert or missing monitoring data. We can discuss diagnosis alongside the roof project and identify the service terms before work is approved.
