Read the energy flows together
Save the battery percentage, solar production, home use, and grid flow from the same time. Seeing solar production does not establish that there is surplus energy available for storage.
For example, Tesla describes its Self-Powered mode as charging from solar energy left after home demand. Other equipment and modes may behave differently; use the guide for your specific system.
Record the mode before changing anything
Write down the current operating mode and any displayed schedule or reserve setting. Note whether someone recently changed the app settings or whether the issue began after installation or service.
Avoid repeatedly changing settings to chase the charging icon. A record of the original state helps the installer understand the behavior. Do not apply instructions from another battery model.
Separate a one-time observation from a repeat problem
Describe whether charging resumes later or never occurs across several suitable periods. Include full-day battery history if available, not just a single percentage screenshot.
If the app is stale, the first problem may be reporting. If there is an equipment alert, record its exact wording. Do not open the battery enclosure or attempt electrical tests.
Request a battery-specific assessment
Send the make, model, installation date if known, screenshots, and whether solar and backup previously worked as expected. Equipment compatibility and the requested diagnostic work are confirmed before scheduling.
If the concern may fall under an existing installation warranty, provide the agreement for review. A battery replacement is not assumed necessary and manufacturer approval is not guaranteed.
