Choose the location before the removal day
Tell the solar contractor what space is available and what else will happen there during roofing. Include vehicle access, other trades, household use, and any planned deliveries. A garage, driveway, or yard may create different handling and access questions.
Let the contractor assess the arrangement for the actual equipment. This page does not prescribe how to stack, package, lift, or secure modules; those details depend on the equipment and the professional handling plan.
Record what was removed
Ask how panels and associated components will be identified and kept with the project. An inventory, labels, and dated condition photos can help the return crew understand what is present and identify missing or damaged parts.
Keep the removal record with the original system plans and the current quote. If another company will reinstall, tell both contractors early and agree on what information and equipment will be handed over.
Agree on custody and changes
| Question | What to document |
|---|---|
| Who is responsible? | The party handling the equipment and the agreed custody arrangement. |
| Will it leave the property? | Transport, destination, access, and any separately quoted charges. |
| What if roofing runs late? | Who receives updates and how the storage arrangement is reviewed. |
| Who can move it? | The responsible contractor and how access by other crews is managed. |
| What if damage is noticed? | The reporting contact, photos, and review process. |
Protect the reinstall appointment from surprises
Keep the agreed work area available and tell us if the roof schedule changes. Do not move stored equipment to make room for a delivery without speaking with the responsible contractor first. A change in location or custody can affect the return plan.
Before reinstallation, confirm roof readiness, access to the stored equipment, and whether any parts are missing. Storage and transport are included only as stated in the written quote; our published removal-and-reinstall rate does not establish a universal off-site storage package.
