Begin with an equipment inventory

Tell us when the panels were removed, who removed them, and where they have been kept. Share any labeled inventory, removal photos, layout drawings, or contractor notes. Missing paperwork does not prevent the first conversation, but it can affect the work needed before a final quote.

Do not move or unpack equipment solely to photograph it. Send what you can safely see and describe anything known to be missing, broken, exposed to weather, or mixed with another system.

Confirm that the roof is ready

Provide the roofing completion date, new material, roofer’s contact, and any changes to vents, roof shape, or the original panel locations. An old array layout may need review if the roof has changed.

Before scheduling the return, clarify who confirms roof readiness and any project approvals that apply. A roofing completion estimate and a confirmed solar reinstallation appointment are separate milestones.

Separate the available equipment from new work

A reinstall-only quote is project-specific. Our combined removal-and-reinstall price is not automatically a reinstall-only price. Separately identify replacement equipment, repairs, and any work outside the agreed return scope.

Available informationWhat it helps establish
Panel and inverter modelsWhat system is being reassembled.
Mounting inventoryWhich parts can be evaluated and what may be missing.
Pre-removal monitoringWhether the system had an unresolved issue before it came down.
Original layout and plansA starting point for reviewing the proposed reinstall.
Roofing changesWhether the attachment approach or layout needs revision.

Ask for a clear completion record

The proposal should explain which checks are included after installation and what happens if an existing fault or missing component prevents completion. Ask for outstanding items to be recorded rather than assuming a roof full of panels means every issue is resolved.

Sun Ray’s limited workmanship terms apply as stated in the written agreement. Hiring us to reinstall does not transfer responsibility for another contractor’s removal work, storage damage, or original equipment obligations.
