Define what “less than expected” means
Are you comparing this month with last month, your installer’s estimate, or the best day you remember? Save the actual figures and the dates. Your original proposal and historical app reports are more useful starting points than a neighbor’s bill.
Use kilowatt-hours (kWh) for energy over a day or month. A live kilowatt (kW) reading is a snapshot. A system’s nameplate rating is not an all-day production promise.
Build a comparison a technician can use
Gather a recent complete week, a period when the system appeared normal, and the same season last year if available. Note missing days, obvious shade, and any alerts. A single cloudy afternoon is a weak basis for replacing equipment.
For a Dallas–Fort Worth service request, include whether the change followed roof work, a storm, an internet change, or no known event. Describe the sequence without assuming what caused it.
Match the next step to the evidence
If the app has stopped updating, start with monitoring. If one panel or roof section differs, save that view. If the entire system shows a sudden sustained decline with current timestamps, request a diagnostic review.
Cleaning is appropriate for a defined cleaning need. It is not a substitute for investigating an equipment alert. Likewise, adding panels before explaining a new drop can leave the original issue unresolved.
Ask for a finding before a repair quote
Ask the service professional to explain what was observed, what remains uncertain, and what work is recommended. Request a distinction between restoring existing operation and expanding the system.
Send your city, panel count if known, equipment models, screenshots, and the first date you noticed the change. Do not share app passwords or climb onto the roof to collect information.
